PALO ALTO, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 10/28/09 -- TIBCO Software Inc. (NASDAQ: TIBX) today announced that Santam, the leading short-term insurer in South Africa, has selected TIBCO's software to improve customer experience and manage insurance policies and programs more effectively.

Leveraging TIBCO iProcess(TM) Suite, TIBCO ActiveMatrix BusinessWorks(TM) and TIBCO BusinessEvents(TM), Santam will create a new claims processing platform over the next 18 months that will form a core part of its Insurance Services Transformation Programme (ISTP). The game-changing programme will involve one of the biggest IT projects the company has ever undertaken and is crucial to the successful upgrade of its customer claims process. The goal of this project is to improve the customer claims experience and increase the efficiency of all related processes, while scaling the claims processing capacity by a factor of two by the end of 2011.

Jan de Klerk, Chief Information Officer, Santam commented: "Thinking Big, which represents one of our company's core values, comes from the ability to innovate and leverage technology for competitive advantage. In a competitive insurance environment we needed a solution which would help drive efficiencies of process, increase our business agility and help to reduce costs. With this next generation implementation, Santam expects to realise productivity benefits of between 30 and 60 percent in selective areas."

Santam selected TIBCO not only because its range of products and solutions could deliver maximum business efficiencies, but following the successful completion of a series of test scenarios which demonstrated its experience and capacity to manage such a large project. TIBCO was also able to ensure that its solutions would be future-proofed and able to not only integrate with existing legacy systems, but also provide the foundation for legacy renewal without the need to 'rip and replace' the aged Adabas Natural platform.

"Organizations need a truly dynamic IT environment that connects disparate elements and delivers a clear, contextual understanding of processes and information in order to employ the right business strategies," said Fabio Pulidori, senior vice president, EMEA Field Operations, TIBCO. "We are very proud that Santam has selected TIBCO as a partner in such a significant IT project. The powerful combination of TIBCO's solutions will ensure that over the coming years Santam will be able to significantly increase the number of claims processed, drive down fraud and improve business efficiency and agility."
