ROSPA: Trant Tops List Of RoSPA'S 1,500 Safety Winners Trant

There were a record 1,500 award winners this year, but the judges chose Trant Construction for the premier prize after hearing how a strong health and safety ethos, led from board level, had been successful not only in preventing accidents and health damage, but in ensuring the commercial success of a growing family-owned business.
The company was praised by the panel for: hands-on health and safety leadership by all Trant's directors and senior managers; a practical approach to training and briefing; disciplined use of point-of-work risk assessments; the involvement of employees in reporting and solving problems; eagerness to learn from accidents and incidents; creative approaches to occupational health and well-being; and the induction, training and supervision of migrant workers.

Organisations compete for the sector awards and specialist trophies, but there are also achievement awards at merit, bronze, silver, gold, gold medal, president's and order of distinction levels.
The awards, sponsored by NEBOSH, were presented over three days (May 13-15) of gala dinners and ceremonies at the Birmingham Hilton Metropole Hotel, at the NEC, attended by nearly 3,000 people.
